Instagram Privacy Update - December 21, 2021

Instagram recently released the ability to disable embedding from your Instagram account. Below is a summary of the impact to your AMI account is embedding Instagram content is disabled, and steps to take to fix it. 

Impact to your AMI account

If your Instagram account is connected to AMI, AMI requires Instagram embedding permissions to be turned on to:

How verify embedding Instagram media is enabled on your Android or iOS device

Note: you need a public Instagram account to access this setting

  1. Open the Instagram app on you device
  2. Tap your profile picture (or the person silhouette) located bottom app bar (icon furthest to the right)
  3. Tap the hamburger menu (the three lines in the top right) and then tap Settings
  4. Tap the Account option 
  5. Tap Embeds (under Contacts syncing)
  6. Make sure the toggle for "Allow people to embed your posts or profile on other websites" is turned on

On Instagram Through a Browser

  1. View your account on a browser and make sure you are logged into your account
  2. Click your profile picture in the header
  3. Now click Settings
  4. Click Privacy and Security from the left-hand navigation menu and look for a section titled Embeds under Story Sharing
  5. Make sure the checkbox that reads “Allow people to embed your posts or profile on other websites” is checked
