Advanced Search Filters

Use advanced filters to narrow down your contacts to meet a specific set of criteria. You can filter your contacts by categories, products purchased, notes, location, and/or birthday month.

As your business grows, your contact list can become overwhelming. It also becomes more and more important to segment your contacts to provide customized messaging. With AMI, you have a number of Advanced Search Filters that makes it simple to provide rockstar customer service and build personalized connections.

These Advanced Search Filters are available on both the mobile and on the Desktop Portal. On our Desktop Portal, you also have the ability to export any filtered lists to easily send newsletters, email campaigns, or postcards to your filtered contacts.

Advanced Search Filters available to everyone

  • Categories and custom labels: Contact categories can help you search for a specific contact as well as a category of contacts. For example, you may want to search for all team members to send them each a note, cheering them on as the end of the month nears. Before filtering your contacts, be sure you've categorized your contacts!
  • Show uncategorized contacts. Did you recently import your phonebook into AMI? You'll want to make sure you are able to categorize those contacts and be able to filter out any contacts that aren't a business contact. Yet! Toggle this filter on at the bottom of the filter screen to test it out!
  • Show contacts missing all contact information. Making sure you have the proper data in AMI for your contacts is imperative to being able to follow up with them or reach out. Turn this filter on to be able to find the contacts that need more information for you to be able to reach out to them in AMI.

Additional Advanced Search Filters for AMI Pro subscribers:

  • Products Purchased. Use the Products Purchased filter to help you easily find customers who have purchased a particular item in the past. You can search by exact product name, partial product name, or keyword to see which contacts have purchased a specific product. For example, you may want to search for all customers who have previously purchased lipstick, regardless of color or collection. Simply type in "lipstick" and apply the filter.
  • Products Sampled. Sending samples can be an incredible awareness campaign for your business. By recording those samples in AMI you will be prompted to follow up on their experience. Now, let's take it one step further and you can filter for anyone who has sampled a particular product and reach out to them directly from there.
  • Products in Wishlists. Did a special promo just get announced? You may know you have a contact who was interested in that product, but who was it exactly? Now filter for that product in wishlists to find who it was and let them know all about the new promo!
  • Notes. You can type keywords or text strings into the Notes filter to search for contacts based on notes you've taken. For example, in case you can't remember who you wrote a particular note about, type in keywords or text strings to locate a particular contact's note. Learn more about Notes here.
  • Location. Easily find contacts based on their location. You can search by city, state, zip code, or province. For example, are you planning to host a party and want to invite local contacts? Use the Location filter to search for your city. Note when searching by a city, it will return contacts in that exact location.
  • Birthday. Plan ahead for birthday texts, cards, and gifts by searching for all contacts with birthdays in the next month.
  • Last Purchased. Find contacts who have never made a purchase (time to connect and let them know about your favorite products!) or contacts who made a purchase last season or during a flash sale to let them know about the latest new product offerings.
  • Last Contacted. Find contacts you've never sent a message to from AMI or who you haven't connected with since a specific point in time -- maybe since the holiday season or the last catalog launch. This is a great way to do proactive reach out to increase sales, particularly before the end of the month!
